We’re excited to spotlight Matt Norton, Cameron Wilson, and Chad Yorgason, co-founders of PicPortal, a software revolutionizing photo workflows at live events. PicPortal enables photographers to instantly transfer photos directly from their cameras, giving clients and media teams immediate access—eliminating the need for SD cards or cumbersome manual uploads. Inspired by Matt’s experience at BYU Photo, the team set out to address the challenges of expensive and complex solutions, creating a simple, affordable tool designed to enhance photographers’ workflows.
The IS program was instrumental in their journey, providing them with expertise in security, infrastructure, and design—skills essential to building PicPortal from the ground up. They learned to collaborate effectively, solve problems creatively, and adapt to the demands of starting a software business. The team highlights the power of persistence and learning on the fly, noting that much of their success came from trusting each other and refining their ideas through trial and error. With a commitment to simplifying the lives of photographers, the PicPortal team is optimistic about transforming the industry and scaling their impact.
