Before transitioning to Information Systems (IS), Amber wasn’t feeling great about Computer Science (CS). She felt like she was too far along in her studies to switch paths. But when she mentioned that her husband was interested in IS, Amber realized that, if she could go back, she would choose IS instead. She admired the community, resources, and the ability to dive into a wide range of technical subjects. Eventually, Amber decided to take the leap and switch to IS, and she hasn’t looked back since!
Since joining the IS program, Amber has learned so much, especially about the power of problem-solving. She emphasizes that no single tool or skill can replace the ability to think critically and reason through challenges on your own. For her, this has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her education in IS.
Looking ahead, Amber is most excited about the opportunity to work in an environment with such talented and growth-driven colleagues. Working at one of the Big 4 firms offers plenty of perks, but Amber values the network and mentorship she receives from her coworkers above all else.
Outside of work and school, Amber loves traveling, and her favorite destination is Portugal. She finds the country’s beauty, rich history, and the Portuguese language fascinating.
Amber's journey shows the importance of following your passions, being open to new opportunities, and the immense value of a supportive community and network!
