We are thrilled to announce that Ty Anderson has accepted a position as a Senior Red Team Engineer at Adobe, working remotely from California!
In his role, Ty is responsible for:
- Leading operations and conducting adversary emulation to measure and exercise defensive controls
- Regularly presenting to the CSO, VPs, and directors, and collaborating across the company with product and security teams to deliver security and detection recommendations and influence security initiatives
- Designing, building, and incorporating custom exploits and custom command and control frameworks
Reflecting on his new position, Ty shared,
"Working in programming and security jobs helped me acquire the technical and business skills needed to join a Red Team. Technical capabilities like Python, Linux, and offensive security tooling enable me to do my technical hacking job, while business understanding and presentation skills allow me to aid in strategic direction and deliver motivating stories to influence meaningful change at a large enterprise."
More About Ty
Career Journey: "I was working in InfoSec at General Motors in Michigan in 2019 and cold-applied for an AppSec role at Adobe. My experience in Python and InfoSec and SSO authentication aligned perfectly to join their AppSec team, and then after a couple of years, I transitioned onto our Red Team and now lead our operations."
Challenges Faced: "The hardest part of my job is influencing change without direct authority. I’m nobody’s boss, but my security findings (and my delivery of them) can persuade teams to invest millions in critical security improvements."
Hobbies: "My dad builds custom cabinets, so I’ve learned a bit from him and built several pieces of high-quality furniture around our home. I also enjoy playing music and sports."
Best Piece of Advice Received: "One valuable piece of feedback I received from my VP was that ‘Red Teamers are very intentional’. This has helped me think deeply about the purpose and direction of my work to ensure I make progress towards the right objectives."
Favorite Music/Artist: "Haken or Kubbi"
Ty is more than happy to meet with students who have questions. We are proud of Ty's achievements and excited to see what the future holds!
